Jun Po Roshi on Zen and What It Is Becoming

My conversation with Jun Po Roshi closed the way these talks often do, with gratitude passing back and forth. I thanked him for the time he gave, and for letting me listen as he described Zen not as a fixed thing but as something still shifting, still finding new shape. He thanked me in return. We agreed I would reach out again right after the call ended, just to see how he was doing.

He introduced himself plainly: Jun Po Roshi, of Mondo Zen. For anyone wanting to look further, he pointed to the website, spelling it out letter by letter so there would be no confusion. M, O, N, D, O, Z, E, N, dot org.

The last thing he said stayed with me. Everyone walks their own road, he told me, so keep going on yours. If Zen turns out not to fit, that is fine. Keep looking anyway. Keep searching. Whatever you need is out there waiting. Then another round of thanks, and the call was over.
