Janet Attwood on Living a Passionate Life
If you take only one idea away from this conversation, let it be this one. When you get clear, whatever you decide you want to show up in your life does show up, and it shows up in exact proportion to how clear you are. Clarity isn't a nice extra. It's the mechanism. The fuzzier you are about what you actually want, the less reliably life hands it to you.
So the whole thing starts with getting clear. That's the first job, before anything else. The tool I keep coming back to for that work is the Passion Test. It's the number one way I know to cut through the noise and see what genuinely matters to you, as opposed to what you think should matter or what someone told you ought to matter.
Once the clarity is there, the practice becomes almost simple. Any time a choice lands in front of you, any decision, any opening or opportunity, you lean toward your passion. You pick the option that moves you closer to it. That's the part people tend to skip, and it's where the whole thing either works or doesn't.
Get clear first. Use the Passion Test to do it. Then, whenever something forces a choice, choose in favor of your passion. That really is the shape of it.
Eric wrapped up by thanking Janet for joining Psychology of the Future, noting how much it speaks to anyone curious about how the mind operates, how to work with it rather than against it, and how to reach the things they're after. Janet thanked him back and sent her love to everyone listening.
