Diane Hamilton on Zen, Meditation, and the Evolution of Consciousness

As the conversation drew to a close, Erik asked Diane Hamilton whether she wanted to leave listeners with any parting thoughts. She did. Her encouragement was simple: turn your attention inward and consider your inner self.

The way Diane framed it, the cosmos is in a constant state of evolving, and so is each of us. She spoke about taking an active part in the growth of your own consciousness, something she described as remarkably recent in the whole span of human history. To her it reads less like a burden and more like an invitation, an opening that earlier generations never really had access to. She asked everyone listening to find some enjoyment in that process of change, each person within the circumstances of their own life.

Erik thanked her and mentioned, for anyone wanting to go deeper, that Diane offers both meditation retreats and private one-on-one work. He asked where the retreats actually happen.

They move around, she said, though Utah is the usual base. Diane lives in Salt Lake City. She also mentioned an upcoming retreat set for Montana in the fall, with another planned for the spring.

Erik closed by thanking her again for making the time. Diane said the pleasure had been hers.
