A Free Relaxation MP3 Built on a 19th-Century Discovery About How We Hear
We put together a meditation MP3 and we're giving it away. No charge, no catch. The recording is meant to gently coax your brainwaves toward a calmer, more relaxed state, and we're happy to hand it over as a gift.
The idea behind it traces back to 1839. A physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, who was a Fellow of the Royal Society and later directed the Prussian Meteorological Institute, noticed something odd about the way the human perceptual system responds to a particular kind of auditory signal. He was the first to document the effect.
What Dove spotted stayed mostly a curiosity for over a century. Then, roughly between the 1950s and the 1970s, people turned his observation into a working audio technology. Several individuals have claimed credit for that later development, and the history gets tangled, but the original discovery belongs to Dove.
Our MP3 takes that same auditory principle and applies it toward mindfulness and relaxation. If you'd like to understand the research side of it, try searching for terms like 'mindfulness' and 'the psychological effects of brainwave entrainment,' and look at the published studies available on PubMed.
