The Free Relaxation MP3 and the 1839 Discovery Behind It
We're giving away a meditation MP3 called RELAX, and yes, it costs nothing. There's no catch. The recording was built to nudge your brainwaves toward a calmer, more settled state, and we made it as a small gift for anyone who wants to try it.
The idea behind the track goes back further than most people expect. In 1839 a physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove noticed something odd about how the human ear and brain respond to a particular kind of sound stimulus. Dove was a Fellow of the Royal Society and ran the Prussian Meteorological Institute, so this wasn't his main line of work, but he was the first to document the effect.
Decades later, roughly between the 1950s and the 1970s, other researchers and developers took that observation and turned it into a usable audio technology. Several people have claimed credit for inventing the practical version over the years. The original discovery, though, traces back to Dove.
What we've done is take that same principle and shape it toward mindfulness and relaxation. The MP3 applies the auditory stimulus for those two purposes specifically, nothing more complicated than that.
If you're curious about the science, search online for 'mindfulness' alongside 'the psychological effects of brainwave entrainment.' You'll find published studies on PubMed.gov that go into the research directly.
