A free MP3 is available here, and yes, it costs nothing. The recording was built to coax your brainwaves toward a calmer, more settled state.

The audio rests on something a physicist noticed back in 1839. Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, a Fellow of the Royal Society who ran the Prussian Meteorological Institute, was the first to describe what happens inside human perception when the ears receive a particular kind of sound. His observation sat mostly as a curiosity until the middle of the twentieth century, when engineers turned it into a usable audio method somewhere between the 1950s and the 1970s. Several people have since claimed credit for that technology, but the original discovery traces back to Dove.

What we are offering is a free recording that draws on his finding. We took the sound stimulus he identified and shaped it toward mindfulness and relaxation. Consider it a gift, and we hope it does something good for you.

If you want to read further, search online for "mindfulness" together with "the psychological effects of brainwave entrainment," and look at the published studies collected on PubMed.gov.
