Hans Christian King: Stop Being a Victim of Your Own Thinking

Near the close of our conversation for A Psychology Of The Future, I asked Hans Christian King what one lesson had stayed with him after working with so many people. He put the number at around 60,000 over the years. His answer came without hesitation.

He wants people to quit treating themselves as victims of their own thinking, and to quit being victims of what other people think of them too. In his view each person is already complete, already whole, and there is nothing lacking in how they were made. The problem starts when you drift away from yourself and try to become something you are not.

The way back, he said, is to return to yourself. Love yourself. Be honest about who you actually are instead of forcing your life into a shape it was never meant to hold. Once a person does that, he claimed, the results can be surprising.

Hans described the wealthy people he has known over the years, and he has known quite a few of them. He counts himself fortunate to have met people who are both interesting and generous with what they have. The common thread, as he sees it, is that every one of them simply knew. Whatever the goal was, they held on to it, and they never handed anyone else the power to tell them it was impossible.

He mentioned a list he had looked at that same day: the top 20 self-made billionaires in the United States. Of those 20, he said, 12 had never gone to high school. That detail, for him, was the whole point. The thing that matters is not the particular work you do or the schooling you had. It is something already inside you.

I thanked Hans for joining us. He mentioned that he offers spiritual training sessions and that a good amount of material, including free information and services, is available on his website. It was a calm and easy conversation, and I was glad to have had it.
