The 1839 Discovery Behind Our Free Relaxation MP3
We're giving away a meditation audio track, and yes, it really is free. The recording is built to nudge your brainwaves toward a calmer, more relaxed state, nothing more complicated than that.
The idea behind it goes back a long way. In 1839, a German physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove noticed something about how the human ear and brain respond to a particular kind of sound. Dove wore several hats in his career: Fellow of the Royal Society, working physicist, and head of the Prussian Meteorological Institute. He was the first to describe the effect, even though plenty of other people would later claim some version of the technology.
What Dove spotted stayed mostly a curiosity for over a century. Only between the 1950s and the 1970s did it get turned into a usable audio method. Our MP3 draws on that same underlying principle, adapted here for mindfulness and for simply winding down. Think of it as a small gift with no strings.
If you want the science rather than our word for it, try searching for 'mindfulness' along with the 'psychological effects of brainwave entrainment.' A fair amount of published research on the topic lives on PubMed.gov, and it's worth reading before you form an opinion either way.
