A Free Relaxation MP3 Built on a 19th-Century Discovery About Sound
We put together an audio track meant to coax your brainwaves toward a calmer, more relaxed state, and we're giving it away. No cost attached. The idea behind it goes back a lot further than you might guess.
In 1839, a German physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove noticed something odd about how the ear and brain respond to a particular kind of sound. Dove was no fringe figure: he held a Fellowship in the Royal Society and ran the Prussian Meteorological Institute. He was the first to document the effect that a specific auditory stimulus creates inside human perception.
The phenomenon sat mostly as a curiosity for over a century. Between the 1950s and the 1970s, researchers and developers turned it into a usable audio method. Plenty of people have since claimed credit for the technology that grew out of it, but the original observation traces back to Dove.
Our recording takes that effect and applies it toward mindfulness and relaxation. Think of it as a quiet gift rather than a product pitch. If you want to understand the science better, search for terms like mindfulness and the psychological effects of brainwave entrainment, and look at the studies indexed on PubMed.gov.
