The 1839 Discovery Behind This Free Relaxation MP3
We put together a free meditation audio track, and when we say free we mean it: no catch, no payment. What it does is nudge your brainwaves toward a calmer, more relaxed pattern.
The idea behind the recording goes back almost two centuries. In 1839 a German physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove noticed something curious about how the ear and brain respond when each ear receives a slightly different tone. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society and ran the Prussian Meteorological Institute, so he had the scientific standing to document what he heard.
Dove was the first to describe this particular auditory effect, though plenty of people have since claimed credit for the technology that grew out of it. The practical audio methods came much later, mostly between the 1950s and the 1970s, when others took his original observation and turned it into something you could actually listen to.
Our track builds on that same principle. We shaped the stimulus around mindfulness and quieting the mind, and we hope you get some use out of it.
If you want to read the research for yourself, try searching for 'mindfulness' along with the psychological effects of brainwave entrainment. A fair amount of published work on it sits on PubMed.
