The 1839 Discovery Behind Our Free Relaxation MP3
We are giving away a meditation track, a RELAX MP3, at no cost. No catch, no hidden charge. The idea behind it is to gently coax your brainwaves toward a calmer, more settled state, the kind of quiet you might otherwise spend a long time trying to reach on your own.
The science that makes it work goes back almost two centuries. In 1839, a physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove noticed something odd about how the human ear and brain respond to a particular kind of sound. Dove was no fringe figure: he held a fellowship in the Royal Society, worked as a physicist, and ran the Prussian Meteorological Institute. He was the first to describe the effect that a specific auditory signal creates inside our perception.
What Dove observed sat largely as a curiosity for a long while. Then, roughly between the 1950s and the 1970s, researchers and inventors turned it into an actual audio technique you could listen to. Several people have since claimed credit for building out the practical technology, and the record is murky on who did what. The original observation, though, belongs to Dove.
We took that old effect and shaped it for a modern purpose: mindfulness and plain relaxation. The MP3 we are offering uses this audio stimulus with that single goal in mind. Consider it a gift, and we hope it does something good for you.
If you want to read the research for yourself, run a search for 'mindfulness' and 'the psychological effects of brainwave entrainment,' and look at the published studies indexed on PubMed.gov. That will take you to the actual data rather than our word for it.
