The trick behind this free MP3 is older than you might guess. Back in 1839, a physicist noticed something strange about how the brain responds to sound, and that observation sat mostly unused until engineers turned it into a working audio method roughly a century later, somewhere between the 1950s and the 1970s.

The physicist was Heinrich Wilhelm Dove. He held a Fellowship with the Royal Society, directed the Prussian Meteorological Institute, and he was the first to describe what happens inside the human perceptual system when it receives a particular kind of auditory signal. Plenty of people have since claimed credit for the technology that grew out of it, but the original discovery traces back to Dove.

We took that effect and built an audio file around it, tuning the stimulus toward mindfulness and relaxation. The recording is meant to coax your brainwaves into a calmer state. It costs nothing, which we realize sounds like a catch, so to be clear: it really is free, and you can download it as a gift from us.

If you want to read the research rather than take our word for it, search Google for 'Mindfulness' together with the 'Psychological Effects of Brainwave Entrainment,' then look for the published studies indexed on PubMed.Gov.
